February 2010

24th February was the AGM. Highlights were:

• Colin Gratton summarised the Club's progress and achievements in the past year.
• Rob Lindeman (retiring Treasurer) presented the accounts and followed up by giving an excellent explanation of how the Club's finances were managed.
• Sally Brown and Angie Baldock are standing down from the committee, but on the plus side we welcome Jane Dixon as a new committee member.
• It was agreed that membership renewal forms would be sent out by email from now on.
• A good discussion resulted in a new idea regarding the supply of tennis balls for members' general use. A store box with a combination lock will have a supply of balls in good condition, which will be available to all paid-up members, who will be given the combination.

Jan 16th was the Bob Harris Presentation and Quiz Evening. £360 was raised for club funds

The award winners were:

Most Improved Player - Jon Veale	Slippery Slope - Mens E Team	Winners of the Quiz

Also on that evening the Club was pleased to present a cheque for £300 to the Save the Children Fund, being the money raised by the Ladies' and Mens' Autumn Doubles Tournaments organised by Jack Darvell and Matthew Popham (pictured with Jenny Brisker of Save The Children)

New Sponsors for Pewsey Junior Open Tournament in 2010

We are delighted to say that the tournament is now sponsored by Michael Fowler Architects.
Its full name is now The Michael Fowler Architects Pewsey Junior Open Tournament.

Mike has been a long time supporter of the club, and indeed designed our much admired pavilion.

Changes:

The Committee are sorry to say that Rob Lindeman is standing down from his positions as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer, and there is now a vacancy for each of those. Also Jon Veale is leaving after several successful years as Coach and we wish him well in his new career in the family business.

Jon is replaced from 1st January by Jon Gregory, a long time member and one of the stars of the triumphant mens A team. He has all our best wishes, and we hope he will enjoy his time not only supporting Martin but also making his own contributions to the club.
