Jon Gregory - Club CoachCoach Profile A keen competitor, Jon played in many competitions during junior years and managed to achieve an LTA rating of 4.1, although he hasn’t entered an LTA singles event for many years. Having gained his LTA Tennis Assistant’s Award in 2002, he decided to take the next step and become a licensed coach and during the summer of 2003 he gained the LTA Development Coach Award (DCA). He attended the course with Martin. He worked at the tennis club during the years of 2003/2004 before leaving for University in September 2004, although living away he still played in the men’s league teams during the summer. After graduating in 2007 with a BA(hons) degree is Leisure and Sport Management, he returned to the area but worked elsewhere, although still playing for the club in the league. At the start of 2010 he agreed to return to the club as a coach to work alongside Martin following the departure of Jon Veale. Since joining, he has upgraded his DCA coaching qualification to the LTA Club Coach Award. Jon is the current Men’s League Team Captain and Men’s A Team Captain, and the team has won the Swindon and District Tennis League in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Last season the team comprising Jon Gregory, Martin Wright, Jon Veale and Robert Guthrie managed to go the whole season of 14 matches unbeaten. Looking to the future, he hopes to continue to enhance his coaching skills and knowledge by attending LTA courses on a regular basis, and is also hopeful of another successful year in the Men’s League. One of his aims for the club is to try and get more juniors competing on a regular basis.
